Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?
Traditional Chinese Medicine can restore balance to the body and promote wellness. It utilizes’ a unique system to diagnose and cure illness. A diagnosis is made using theories of yin and yang and five elements. Evaluation of disease includes the cause, mechanism, location, and nature of the disease.
Treatment is not based only on the symptoms, but differentiation of syndromes. TCM aims at treating the root of the imbalance rather than simply treating the symptoms.
Acupuncture is the most well known of Chinese Medicine’s modalities. Additionally, we use Herbal Medicine, Tui Na (Chinese Therapeutic Massage), Moxabustion, Cupping and nutritional and lifestyle recommendations.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture can improve function, reduce inflammation, increase circulation and promote the body's natural healing. It involves the painless placement of ultra thin sterilized needles (finer than a human hair) into specific points located at various depths below the skin’s surface. In TCM theory, acupuncture alters flow, balance, and strength of the bodies vital energy called ‘qi.’ Western medical research shows that acupuncture has the ability to alter various biochemical and physiological conditions to treat a wide variety of illnesses.
